Man charged with rape after woman attacked inside NHS hospital
A man has been charged after a woman was raped inside a hospital.
Nicholas Bell, 22, was arrested following reports that a woman, 30, had been assaulted at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Harlow, on Sunday.
The attack took place inside the hospital building, Essex Police said. The victim is now being supported by specialist officers,
Bell, of Little Brays, Harlow, was due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Officers have asked for anyone with information about the alleged incident to contact the adult sexual abuse investigation team in Harlow on 101 or report details online at the Essex Police website.
Last week, staff at the Princess Alexandra Hospital were pictured lining the corridors with their heads bowed after a ‘well-respected’ midwife died from coronavirus. Lynsay Coventry, 54, had worked in the maternity unit.
One colleague wrote on Facebook that they had been ‘united in grief’ after hearing of her death.
